VIDEO. This machine that folds clothes for you is a dream

UNUSUAL - In the space of a century, human beings have freed themselves from many household chores. Washing machines, dishwashing machines, sewing machines and even vacuum cleaners gave us a lot of free time.

But there's still one chore that can be time-consuming (especially if you're picky): putting clothes away after they've dried. Or iron them. Fortunately, the Foldimate company claims to have invented a machine that promises to save us precious minutes by folding laundry, to discover in the video above.

How it works? Unfortunately, it is necessary to hang your clothes on small clips. After the clothes are hung, they are taken to the machine and folded automatically. It is even possible to put a little steam on them to smooth them out, or even to perfume them.

It takes 10 seconds to fold a t-shirt, and another 20 to 30 seconds to smooth it out. In total, the machine can fold 10 to 30 garments before it's full, according to Wired. Foldimate claims to fold laundry twice as fast as by hand.

The machine is suitable for tops and trousers, but not for larger garments, such as coats or large sweaters, or too small, such as underwear. On the other hand, if you are really fussy, this will not replace a real ironing, especially on shirts.

Pre-orders should start in 2017. But at what price? It will take some 750 euros, which is still a little expensive for a laundry folding robot. Especially since you still have to hang up each item of clothing.

If you hate folding your laundry, there's still hope: the makers say a future version of Foldimate will allow you to put your laundry pile straight into the machine, without needing to hang it up. We're looking forward to that (and a price drop).
