In other words, as soon as the discharge seems suspicious to you, it is important to consult a gynecologist.
If there is a problem, how do you treat it?
In the event of a problem, your gynecologist should then advise you on vaginal bacteriology: a sample taken in the laboratory. The prescription is simple and differs very little from that given for these infections outside of pregnancy. Whatever germs are involved, you are given a local egg-based treatment for three to nine days. Your companion will also be treated with an antifungal cream or milk, whether he feels irritation or not: he may be a healthy carrier, and therefore risks contaminating you again. Be careful to respect the duration of the treatment because the fungal infections recur and settle willingly permanently. Often, a control sample, a few days after the treatment, will make it possible to verify the disappearance of the germ. All these infections that can be linked to white discharge are perfectly benign, but the main thing is to treat them in time and completely. Otherwise, you risk complications, such as premature delivery or neonatal infection.
